Sydney probably has much better looking people.
Though your trip may be postponed due to weather.

Right well if we went to Sydney it would be in the winter (december), which is the main variable that is preventing me from going. It would be 1 week out of a 2 week break we'll get in between med school semesters. time is going to be so cramped because it's holiday season as well so i'll be expected to pay a visit to my parents who live in milwaukee (7 hours north of where i live). all in all it will be a very time pressed break and idk if i want that to be the case after my first semester of med school

I've been to London 3 times, but I've never been to "London". We always stayed with family and I was never able to tour the actual city, hit up the pubs, etc. In fact I can count the number of public places I've been to on one hand since we were there for a wedding and you know how paki weddings go.

Just ask your girl which she'd rather see? I'm sure her opinion matters more than ours.

Sydney would definitely be more expensive than London.

My gf doesn't care because she's never been to either country (she's never been outside the states) so eiether trip would be fantastic for her. If we went to London we would def. take a train to Paris at some point (and berlin if possible - her dream destinatio). I think I'm think it's just going to be London because I want to be able to enjoy the most of the experience without outside pressures (family, time constraints, school) that could arise if we took the trip during a semester break.

I'd personally rather go to Sydney 10x more. However, I would rather have a stress free vacation where I know I can get into w/e trouble I want and there are no time constraints. many tks for your inputs. question for the locals in the area or the veteran toursits, is it possible to train to berlin/paris/london and if so how long does it take?

You obv. haven't seen EuroTrip. Trains =/= safe.

Keep in mind, if you come to Sydney in December, it will be Summer in Australia.
So you'll be experiencing 34+ degrees Celsius temperatures and a lot of thunderstorms.
It'll be hot and sunny during the day, and then windy and rainy at night; still hot though and EXTREMELY humid.
So you will be sweating a lot.

I'm not familiar with London, but Sydney is very expensive in some parts ($10 for a beer at some nightclubs).
But can be a lot of fun.

I also might be living down there by December, so can meet up with you if you want and show you around.

yeah that's another thing, we know nobody in australia and i'd be more than happy meeting up with you. do you literally live in sydney? we have (i have) family in london so that's huge plus, if we get in trouble or need some help it would (most likely) be readily available. the last major pull for london is the fact that their cricket will be in full blossom. india, sril lanka (don't give a shit about either of those teams) and pakistan are all touring this summer and would make for a lot of fun. i'd love to go to pubs cheering for the english when they face off against india and vice versa when the pakis play XD. can't really convey how much i love cricket. i think the kiwis are going to oz this december which is going to be a one sided rape fest, new zealand will get raped.

can you tell me what the winters are like in sydney? for example if we were to go there the end of july what kind of weather should we be expecting?

I don't live there yet, but I'm planning on moving there when I finish school (some time around october).

Winter in sydney is pretty good, best time to visit if you don't plan on going to the beach because the water is too cold.
Average maximum temperature is meant to be around 61 Fahrenheit and it's usually dry.
