illustrator
GIMP
if it works for windows it probably works for mac too when it comes to graphic design. there are a few exceptions but they are being fixed as we speak. i do believe zbrush is releasing their osx version either soon or it already is released.

again... its the ability of the artist, not the program. by continueing arguing your merely proving my point
Gimp is perfectly fine for any job, if you feel you need top of the line software to do anything artistic then you fail lol. for thousands of years its been done with berries and hair.....
my signature is a study on texture and hidden pictures... maybe look again.. you might find something interesting.

mac is like made for gfx
i think every program exist for mac and windows if you are in gfx doesnt made if 2 or 3d
only some hotkeys are different

i never used gimp but i dont think its good for painting
even photoshop is not good for painting not as good as painter
but some parts are better or easier in photoshop so you have to switch with many programs
at least i do so
