After I got scammed this last time I decided it was about time I had a chat with PayPal's dispute reps. I had not too long of a chat but a decent enough of one to get very valuable information!

Now the first thing we talked about was what I was selling, and I told them, virtual goods. They then explained that every single cash-back that was occurring on me was an "unauthorized transaction", although, even with it being an "unauthorized transaction" they still shouldn't have received the funds because buyers have no protection when it comes to intangible goods.

So I asked her, how is it, that even when I provide proof that they received the goods, and proof of who they are, that they still get their money back. She told me she honestly didn't know because again, buyers have no protection when it comes to virtual goods.

Then I asked her this question. I've read on forums, that if you have them send the money as a gift that they can't cash back, is this true? She replied that it was false information, because people can dispute the transaction as an unauthorized claim and receive the money back. Also, payments that are sent as a gift are a lot more likely to be given back to the buyer because of it being sent as a gift since there wasn't supposed to be any goods traded between the two people, so they don't review the information as much or just deem it as useless since it was a gift. She also explained to me that having so many transaction sent to me as a gift is not a good thing, and that if it is being abused (which is kind of what this type of trading is) they can remove our privilege of sending / receiving money as a gift, simply because it's robbing them of the fee's PayPal put in place.

Alright, fine, so how would you recommend selling virtual goods then? Is there an option to have them send the money for an intangible good? She explained to me that the best way to receive money for virtual / intangible goods (and if you want your transaction dispute information (which there shouldn't be because she also told me they can't be disputed) actually looked at) is to have the money sent as a SERVICE! She said it's a much safer way for the seller to sell virtual goods as compared to receiving the payments as a gift.

So everyone, if you want to stay clear of getting PayPal privileges revoked then trade using the SERVICE method of trading instead of as a gift. It will greater protect the seller and not end up with you losing all your money, what would you rather do? Get scammed and lost $175+ (like I have), or pay the 48 cent charge that PayPal puts on every trade of $15. I obviously know what I'm doing.

If this could be stickied please do, this is invaluable information!

I have already recieved a chargeback with a service payment. It doesnt matter all the scammer has to do is call their credit card and say they got robbed or that his stupid little brother stole his credit card.

Paypal will NEVER be safe.

Yes that is the only legitimate way they can do it, but if PayPal can provide proof to the credit card company and get the funds then you will get your money. Just make sure you have sufficient proof. Also, this is what some people do with gift exchanges as well, except you don't stand a chance when it comes to the part where they investigate the transaction.

A screenshot of your d2jsp gold logs and a screenshot of them saying the received the goods. Simple enough ^^

On my first trade on here, the dude tried to chargeback $40 and after a week + of disputing it, paypal sided with me and i didn't supply ~any~ proof.

After that i started doing gifts and haven't been cb'd since ~

Yea, i was surprised. I thought i would get an email or something asking for proof ( the same proof i used to get him scammer'd on here) but nothing. They just gave sided with me.

ive just recently opened moneybrookers after paypal has locked up 185 of my funds. Can you keep money in moneybrookers like paypal though or do you have to wait the 10 days to send it to your bank everytime ?

also does the normal paypal account accept credit cards ? if not then thats one way to stop people from doing chargebacks because they cant send money that way.

i was also thinking that maybe if we send out some form of postcard to the buyer then that would be 1 way of having proof of delivery.

just a card that has a picture on it and in the input box for sending payment make sure it says they are buying xx artwork postcard along with a free bonus fg/ item. and that they have already recieved thier free bonus.

Sadly the PayPal user to Moneybooker ratio is horrible, also I tried opening an account there a long time ago and they put like a 4 cent charge to my credit card for verification, I entered the amount they sent and it always said it was wrong, I contacted support and they couldn't help me, so I'm kinda stuck with PayShit =/
