i cant help you, but id like to get in on any resources you have on this, would be fun....and think of the stuff we could make

hes using adobe flash. its an animation software. thats about all i know

Adobe flash CS4 pro to be exact. It has alot more potential then this..
And if you wan't to try a legal trial verision: http://www.adobe.com/
