So I just need a final "GOOD TO GO" signal from all of our members and we can initiate the change. This is a follow up from a discussion post in site suggestions just in case you missed it (http://www.d3jsp.org/viewtopic.php?t=60217).

I vote yes, It's a pretty good change to me and should help members better recognize and identify the actual staff users and the special users.

Better than M++ but still sounds like a "trusted" tag. I don't have a better suggestion at the moment. Still, it was probably one of the best choices out of suggested changes.

VIP isn't much of a change from M++. VIP is still considered "higher status", hence why its an abbreviation for "very important person". I can easily see this being misconstrued as a symbol of trust.
I still think we should have gone with something like "2.5K Club" or something along those lines, that would be a lot harder to use as a symbol of trust as compared to VIP or M++.

ahh the Nyuu argument, this was my response to her saying the same thing as you like a month ago
"you're also highly against VIP because it sounds like it should be better than M++. this isn't a law or philosophy class, this is the internet. just because a name logically sounds like it should be more important than another doesn't mean that's how reality plays out. people that come here are primarily from d2jsp where no VIP exists. naturally when they see VIP their first inclination would be to find SOME information regarding it.
any change is a good change. ancients, jagar, cocacola, and i'm sure countless others scammed people by making full use of the m++ advantage and seeking out (lazy) new comers who were complacent because they thought the members were trusted. it isn't really a coincidence why all of them voted against the name change." |
