#1Posted: 05 May 2011 02:06 pm Post subject: Is a white dude listening to hiphop wrong?!?
the hiphop is not limited to, but does include, Beastie Boys.
I just know how wrong it was when Will Smith kind of played a white dude in Enemy of the State. _____________________ ONCETHEREWASALINKHEREANDNOWITISGONEYES
Who cares what people listen to, as long as they're happy. :3

listening to rap, hip hop, r & b is fine. my gf talks crap when she sees a white guy bumping hard a rap or hip hop in their car but yet i do it too. but then again more of the songs i bump are mainly club songs cause thats what plays best from my 2 12s in the trunk.
just don't start wearing a black guys du rag, or using black people's terms and think you are black. i know i am not black.
i am white, i cook mexican and i am black from the waist down. _____________________

They should be grateful we brought them here.
Nico - As long as they don't think it makes them coolio kids, then it's fine. _____________________ ONCETHEREWASALINKHEREANDNOWITISGONEYES
Listening is all good.
Emulating gangster rappers when you're an upper-class white kid isn't.
Indeed.
It just feels outta place. Like a black guy ponding on a drum set in a metalcore band. _____________________ ONCETHEREWASALINKHEREANDNOWITISGONEYES
I always find myself posting Tosin Abasi when ever a thread like this pops up.
I wish they would have all just stuck to string and brass. They all seemed to be soooo good with their instruments unitl ghetto children realized they could be lazy and not have to put forth effort to conquer or master a said instrument.
Instead they projectile vomit into a mic about the tough life of the hood, slappin hoes, and rollin on chrome. What happened to intellectual lyrics and the feel of a masterpiece.
Everyone needs to go listen to some fuckin blues/jazz. Those times were hard, they didn't have food stamps or medicaid and had the whole nation throwing shit at them. Not just Duh ghetto.
Look at this classy gentlemen who succeeds as "The new Hendrix of our era".
Obviously an education, and a nice appearance, followed with unbelievable talent.
He should be posted on all the billboards and papers thrown in the ghetto as a true idol instead of people who admit they kill people and extort others for financial benefit. I do know there are some intellectual and very thought out rappers who put soul and effort into their rhymes and music. The select few I'll give credit to. 80% of rappers spurt the same repetitive vomit. Shit sucks.

Why do I get the feeling that someone's offended? This is the internet. You're not allowed to be offended. _____________________ K4L31GH kleJSP

hiphop is effing glorious man. I laugh at lil wayne and most of the crap shown nowadays, but even NWA back in the day was dope as fuck. It's not my favourite hiphop group (tribe, roots, pete rock, mos def etc etc), but damnnn it's tight. I think rap music is an art and it is just as much an art as jazz (or blues). Some of the smoothest jazz drummers are black people (jack dejohnette, billy cobham etc). Maybe, it is the white people's stupid pop music that as driven rap into the terribly commercial pit of hell it has turned into. Early nineties - late nineties was amazing for rap and I wish it wouldn't have changed so drastically. _____________________ ONCETHEREWASALINKHEREANDNOWITISGONEYES

P.S. Sorry again for those days in the fields.
implying that there is no such thing as foreign rap, and that only black people rap in the US.
also implying that rap takes no skill.
You're saying writing down rhymes on a piece of paper is skill?
Also you are saying it takes "skill" to make beats and put the rhymes into it.
I have fruity loops let me know, I could put something together for you about my day yesterday.

You could do it - but it would never sound as dope as Mos Def rapping; "BA BA BAABABA, I STRIKE THE EMPIRE BACK! I STRIKE THE EMPIRE BACK! FUCK THE EMPIRE! HIGH FLYIN IN THE MILLENIUM FALCON, PILOTED BY HAN SOLO!!"
How about triphop? That good enough for ya? Little Portishead, Gotan Project, Massive Attack? _____________________ ONCETHEREWASALINKHEREANDNOWITISGONEYES
