Right now i used about 50gems for leveling purposes, and am @ 80 on my farming char, but 0 on my dk char, whcih seems to need them more ach...
Any tips on getting gems quick

you know that forest special? you see a mysterious trail and you wonder whether y'should walk it and figure out? Well, go there and if you come to a mysterious waterfall you'll get one of two random options. One of em says "Walk the ledge/Go back" and the other says "Take a Drink/go back". Walk the ledge can give you, up to 5 gems. The stonehenges can get you like 4-5 gems as well.
Other than that, I'm pretty sure the felyne race haven't been activated, but maybe another race has special gem findability.

i had about 1k (farmer ofc; you lose your gems when you kill)
but now i have about 300
