One common misstake a person do is to state his skype in public, this could be used to attach yourself to an ip.
Everyone can do the check themselves, and the best site for that kind of deed is below.

(Do notice that you need the skype username and not the MSN/Bing/Hotmail adress *)
Now, I got a lot of friends on skype and I don't want to give them up just because skype does not care for their users security!
The question follows, how to protect myself from this?
Follow my guide!
Step #1
We are going to change the firewall settings for skype, open up notepad, copy paste the code and save it as tore.vbs

Run this script.
Step #2
Log out of skype if you are not online yet, open up the connection-option tab and use following settings
Restart skype
Step #3
Now we have left just a few options for the ip hunters, these options are to add you, find you or contact you, this step is to remove these options.
Log into skype (Do notice that your ip can still be tracked at this point!)
When these settings are made, restart skype and check for yourself if you still can be found by different skype resolvers! Don't ever pay the resolver sites for this kind of service, because they are not alone and can not protect you from this!
Every time you update your skype you are under danger, we can never know how the updates affect our skype settings, keep this in mind when updating skype!
If something is missing or if you got any questions, then this is the place to discuss the matter!

Also adding that I have not had any success with a hotmail account, since I am not a computer expert I cannot tell why...
I would like to add this as a recommendation as further security added to what has been stated earlier!

you'll obviously accept people who add you ..
i doubt u gonna add skype and just add one real life friend ..
if he has u on skype he can get ur ip with or w/ a resolver
anyway , people cant do anything with ur ip except ddos you ..
and if they want ur ip they could just send u a youtube link or anything like that , as soon as you click on it , they'll have ur ip saved somewhere ( its kinda an ip grabber )
only reason they would ddos u is on d2jsp for poker .. they ddos u so they win the games by forfeit , but it would be obvious
about disabled acc , arent most acc disabled cuz made on same ip and / or fgs transfer with acc on same ip? ( afaik you need to ask to mods / admins if u have someone else at ur home who gonna make an acc )
it is like to be a med ,
they check ur warn logs ( like ur last warn ... )
ur activity everywhere
reviews all ur posts etc..
then one of the mods make a topic about u , and they talk about ur case , the most power u got , the more important ur vote is..
if u want med to see you , you just need to assclick by reporting people thro PMS to mods ( easiest one is meridyth , she thinks the life is pink not sure how to say ) , she'll like you if you assclick her a bit lol

This thread is only made for discussing regarding skype ip traces, and you added the point regarding accepting people into skype, for my part I dont even get invites when people add me, and by adding people it does not mean you got a p2p connection to them, but ofc if you talk to them or chat with them that could change the matter.
