It's up to you if you trust him, if you do, then trade, if not, then either make him send first or wait for somebody else.

If I had a jsp atm I'd probably buy it but I don't so I can't.
But you can check yourslef, see if he has any reps (the little thumbsup icon)
If he doesn't then no, he probably hasn't traded with anyone, and if he has it was with someone with under 50 posts who could not rep him.
