I would get the 6870.
775 is a low clock.
both would run d3 on max however...
nowadays computers take advantage of the GFX cards and use it to improve overall performance, instead of just games.

oh certainly.
imo i'd get something like a gt 440
very inexpensive and can run d3 on high. (provided his cpu is a dual core clocked around 3ghz, at least)

in that case, a gt440 would play it maxed.
i installed it on a comp with a 2.7ghz dual core, with a gt440
ran it on very high settings just fine but there was noticable slowdowns in 4 people games near large mobs due to the cpu bottle necking.
with the stronger cpu, it would have no problem.
