I've been looking for good map editor too for a while now, patch 1.15.2 (I think[Latest anyway]), broke StarEdit..

well starforge is better for terrain building, but xtra editor has a better UI

Ok, this is a situation where the map maker 'protects' the map. It usually comes up with an error. I have a post somewhere in the mapmaking section with a link to unprotectors. and explanation.

scmdraft is easily the best. starforge was never finished so therefore it cannot be the best and as for xtra editor it has problems of its own i have used it before
and whenever i modify NORAD II's name and stuff it immediately reverts back when i close it. also if ive modified dmg it auto moves to 50 dmg regardless of whatever.
theres lots of little things like that in xtra editor that make it inferior to scmdraft. so id advise getting the latest version of it or 7.2 at the very least if you think 8.0 is screwed up.

If someone made an new X-Tra editor with everything in it... uaranteed it would be the best... scmd blows on its trigger/<4> coloring system. Xtra has smooth triggering.
