I have 7 gems but I see now use for them... also the cloth and leather where do you get rid of them?

sell cloth and leather at the trading post when they happen to want them (you have to get lucky)

use gems to buy items and your stallion, as well as to buy hp boosts

I think you can also sell the gems for gold at a certain shop. There are also randoms that you get in the forest like a person who'll try to embue your items with the gems to make them stronger, but a better question: what is the point of playing LOGD XP

gems are quite important... some items can only be bought with gems...
