if you have a router, you can host

you just need to forward your ports

go to:

http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm

look for the name of your router, it should be said right on it

then select it, and then select the game from the list (Starcraft)

and it will give you instructions

Here's the universal tutorial, quick and easy.
1. Go into Command prompt
2. Type 'ipconfig /all'
3. Find you default gateway IP.
4. Open your internet broswer and put that IP into the URL, hit enter.
5. You will be shown a User and pass to your router, you either need to find it, or use the default. If the password wasn't changed, the default is usually:
UserName = Router Producer (eg, linksys's router would have a username of 'motorola').
Password = admin
6. Go into where it shows your ports, (eg on linksys's router, its under 'Games and Applications')
7. When you are there, add a column for starcraft, Port 6112 UDP/TCP Or Both if you have the option.
** I did not use the linksys router for examples because thats the router I have, it is because it is the most popular router. **
8. Double check to make sure the IP ending is correct. Sometimes the Windows Firewall's "exception" doesn't work.. so you may have to turn it completely off.
** If you have any other questions, just PM me. I don't usually look in posts, only PM =] **

The only problem they would have is logging onto the router. Other than that, it's a simple process.

yeap...
also... they could just unplug their router just for the game... i mean just plug the cord directly in to your computer for a few hours...

But it also give your computer a higher secuity risk. What if there was a cookie on your computer that knew your port disable wasn't active, they could tell the host, and you could possibly get a bunch of malware on your computer.
Unless you scanned your computer before you did that, then in that case, yeah.

Depends, Is the computer directly (via cable) or indirectly (via wireless) to the router? If its wireless you must get a larger supporting Wireless internet card. Else, if its connected by a cabled to the router, then its 1: the cable, or 2: The cables to your ISP.
