hmm, i love the idea, but the only problem would be if someone really did scam and the accuser didnt have enough proof to get him locked. the scammer could then just hide or delete the bad reputation, making the rep system useless, there are a few reps i would love removed but they are simply not worth the trouble. i have some reps that people expected rep 4 rep and i didnt do it but now they are locked, doesnt look as good to have a locked person rep you but its liveable. If anything leave the rep system for the simple enjoyment.

Example:

In clan truth we use a voting system on voting new members.

Because i do not simply hand out my vote/rep/vouche to anyone i research each member. I check their previous posts(skim through of course) to see if they are a douche or if they are a nice person. Then i check their rep, if they have a wierd one or a bad one i look at the user that gave it and the tone of the message. based on this i can normally make an accurate decision as to wether i would vote yes or no. So if your going to remove the rep system, leave the actual system but warn members not to count on it as a surefire trust identifier.

Rambled a bit, but lately thast my specialty

i think we should keep it but maybe add something to it or edited it where:

you can add positive rep and negative rep and developer a trader %

but i think this should ONLY be allowed to be used in the trading sections of the forums, maybe after you make a trade something pops up for the user your traded with to add your new trader % or trader reputation

Nah Adam, we used to have (+) / (-) Reputation feature availability but that was overly abused.

Now its just a (+) rep.

Rep is essentially very pointless unless you're trying to find out what kind of trader you are coming across, and even then its not 100% either.

I love what you just said,

Do what he says and allow the user to hide/delete his rep.

To hide and delete rep, they should be limited to, Hide all rep or don't hide any.

Delete one rep, all rep on that member should be deleted.
There should be no select choice by the user to remove rep.

I have some bad credit, I also have some really good credit.
I don't have the choice to only display the really good credit smile

I do know that all the forum rules apply to reps.

Anyone posting excessive flame or derogatory statements on another members rep will be warned / suspended depending on the content.

Posting:

1. Please keep spamming to a minimum. You will receive warns if you continue spamming after being warned by a Moderator.
2. No flaming outside Battle Floor. This also includes Private Messages.
3. Absolutely no racism, sexism, or pornography.
4. Do not bump up old topics, let them die.
5. Do not ask to be a Moderator, we hand pick our Moderators.
6. No torrent, warez or any kind of illegal activities

User Groups:

3. Trade Moderator: These guys look over the trading forums and ensure that users are following the trading rules. Report to one of these Moderators if you see a trade violation.
4. Junior Moderator: Now we are starting to talk about power. These guys are the Moderators' assistants. They moderate less forums than Moderators and cannot delete posts or warn/ban users. They can still edit your posts and contact moderators about possibly banning or warning a user.
5. Moderator: Moderators are powerful users who have the right to govern many forums. They look after all violations but mainly forum policy violations. If you see a trade violation and no Trade Moderator is available, contact one of these guys.
7. Senior Moderator: Senior Moderators have the power to oversee all forums. These guys deal with major violations of the forum. Only contact a Global Moderator if no other Moderator is available. They have the ability to delete spam posts, warn or suspend (ban) users who repeatably violated the forum rules.
8. Admin: Administrators of the forum. They do little moderating as they are busy with many other items. Contact them for issues such as password recovery and other administrative issues only.

No Moderators cannot remove reps at this time.

Give Senior Moderators access to edit reputations
And ability to disable a user's ability to give rep.

I wasn't really talking to you.
This has been under discussion for awhile, it would keep scammer reps gone and leave legitimate reps only.

I agree with tyrael as I mentioned in my posts before.

Give rights to senior moderators too.
