technical question

Ok, now i was recently looking at braindead's profile. http://www.d3jsp.org/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=4377

And i noticed his signature is a countdown.. it has this lighting on the top.... is there anyway to make objects change lighting effect based on position of object on page?

like say i have a ball on the right side of the page... it would look like this




but say that using the bottom slider on the browser, i slide the slider all the way to the left so the ball was on the left side of the page.. it would automatically change to this:




anyone know how to do this?


P.S. the images were very sloppily made, sorry


what made me think of this was if i scrolled down shoudlnt the glare on his signature move to the bottom of the image
