1) Users are supposed to feel as safe as possible when trading.
2) Users know d3jsp mods have scammed (either by deliberate action, by fucking around or by getting keylogged by a 13-year-old French virgin)
3) You make a forum helper a guy who was afk for 3 years, has 14 rep and a whooping 600 posts (a very active guy indeed)
4) You are proud of yourself.

The problem is your perception of how trustworthy a guy is doesn't matter to the average user because of 2). What actually matters is the user's perception of the guy and because of 3) I wouldn't personally entrust him with 10 d2jsp fg. You choose who YOU think the right guy is, not who THE COMMUNITY thinks the guy should be. This is in itself a huge failure. Not to mention the efforts of other members who help around the forum. Some of them have been actively helping around for a while and a rando nobody (but staff) knows gets to be a forum helper.

How that makes sense escapes me.

That would mean d2jsp allowed members to pick the staff.

You're an idiot for posting such blasphemy, let them do what they do.

Your say what I know, sir. You see, the idea was for this to spur people on, to want to get the position. I am not content with just 2 guys - I want a few more. And by that standard, these two are just a presentation of how it can be. A user involved and fairly well known (Ref) and a user we've looked over personally and given a chance (Greg). This means: The position is open for just about anyone who is ready to help - all they need is to start helping and for people to report good experiences with them.

This is not a closed group and we do want to listen to the community - however - we felt it was best to show an example before going live with it. Again, my life isn't d3jsp (hopefully..) and I cannot fix every little single thing right when it appears. I have already stated, elsewhere, that this announcement post may not have been elaborate enough in explaining what is going on and why we chose as we did.

tl;dr: It's not supposed to be a closed group of 2 members - it's supposed to be an initiative that'd spur people on (positively) so they'd apply for the position without bullshitting around.

That was my thought process, and I'm fairly sure I should've added it in the announcement. Feel free to disagree with me.

If you give a promotion to someone that deserves it other people might start working hard to try to
deserve a promotion aswell.

If you give a promotion to someone that hasn't done anything to deserve it the people that really
deserve it will feel like they got punched in the face.

This is not the message you sent out to the members of the site when you appointed Greg and Yannick.

There's some people on the site that have been trying to help out. Then you give this new tag to
people that haven't even been online for a long time.

People will not be as helpful if you give promotions to the staff teams friends instead of the people
that have been trying to help.

The group is a great idea, but take some time and review the list of member(s).

I know.

Like I said, there are two helpers. For every time someone mentions Yannick, I will keep him there for like a week. It's just me trolling.

I can't specify this in any better way: Ref is there because users respect him and he was semi-experienced - Greg is there to show that it's not a restricted position - but a position wherein everyone can prove themself.
Right? Can I stop making this point now?

Some people may end up assuming they are staff and trusting them with let's say $100 worth of FG or something.
How can we prevent scams from happening because we made a poor choice?
We've got to have some thought into it, unless you do and haven't told me Bob!

I'm sorry, but to me that seems stupid.

The way you make it sound is as if you put the names of people who were active for a week in a hat and picked one.

Now I know you obviously didnt do that, but what else are regular members to think when you pick someone 10% of the people here know.
