Bandwidth problems

For those of you who uses the arcade, the site used around 1000 MB of bandwidth last month, and merely yesterday we had a 350 MB load. With this rate, our bandwidth will be used up way before the end of the month. If we dont get more donations to upgrade our hosting plan, we might have to start charging for games and limit the downloads. Any solutions? Feel free to post

Charge FG for the games? I could donate a lot of bandwidth. I can give you ftp access and you can just upload some of the games there and change the links...

However the score submission might not like that.. What do you think?

Disable uploading avatars? I know it's tiny but should add up to something? Maybe lol.

avators dont really take bandwidth, its the games, most are 400 kb - 1 mb each, if everyones playing, it takes up a lot of bandwidth

Well take our avatars for example, mine is 47~ KB and yours is ~35KB, for every person to view a thread, they would have to download each person's avatar once, so eventually they'll add up, although not as much as the games, they should still contribute a little. I've ran a community site before, with a 15 GB transfer limit a month, this helped me when I hit about 200 users.

theres cache lol, they dont download everytime, but games do when u play one that uve never played before

monitoring our daily usage, ill implement 1 fg per game when we can't handle the load

Ive noticed theres a few mulitples of same games there, i know thats not really much but surely some can be removed...

Maybe if we compile a list of the ones that dont work properly (i have noticed a few but neglected to make a note of it along with games that are there more than once and maybe some of the ones that are pretty much the same game but with different titles)

Idk just brain storming here idk..
