Them release dates have been pushed and pushed and pushed. Occasionally, I wonder if notch is ever going to have a finalized product he can safely sell at full price.
I only joined the exquisite league of Minecrafters in 1.7 - so I'm fairly new to the game. I feel though, that I've already made plenty of experiences and had enough adventures in the mines that I can post about it safely. I have yet to build the extended, and insane, redstone circuits some people manage to build, but I'm on my way. I can also, whenever 1.8 actually comes out, join the league of people who preferred the game before, where before just stands for "earlier" or "in its glory". Regardless, I'm looking forward to it. I'm worried about some of the aspects, but I'm also looking very much forward to it all. Actually, I haven't played minecraft for a week now, because I don't want to build something too crazy before I have to start all over, but if the update doesn't come soon, I might just have to play, regardless.
Now, this topic is a few days behind, but still relevant. Notch posted something cryptic on his twitter, which, when I noticed it, made me open minecraft faster than a bat can fly out of a scary cave.

That's a 4chan link, by the way. Don't go onto 4chan unless you really want to. Also, this is not the /b/, it's the /v/ - I think you should be home free 
Since all you have to add is a minecraft.jar ~ this is pretty much a universal way, meaning all systems will be able to use the file, it's pretty solid. Also, just so you do not feel entirely bad for downloading it and pre-playing it (there's already a few clips on youtube) here's another tweet from notch:

Lastly, I really hope the actual 1.8 comes out soon. I guess that is easily derived from this post, but, I really want 1.8 to come out officially. Minecraft is one of the most innovative gaming experiences I've had in a long time. The original release date for 1.8 was in july, I think. Then it was "end of august" lastly it was 8th of September ~ and now, notch's twitter feed has not given any hints to when it'll be out. I'm waiting with much anticipation. I just, sincerely, hope that I won't be disappointed.

Met endermen, killed endermen - fooled around during the night. and fooled lots around with light. I'm playing in a map I've already created ~ so I haven't had the full experience.
The real winner for me is the creative mode. I've built my first more complicated red stone circuits (without modding..? Awesome!) - something that only enhances my appearance as a noob in the field. I'll soon master the arts of redsonte and pistons ~ but that shit's hard!
So basically, creative mode rocks. It's like forge world for Halo, Forge for Marathon, World editor for Starcraft and WC2/WC3. It's absolutely amazing.
