Happy 4th of July from the staff at d3jsp.org!
We wish you all, except the Canadians who had their day the 1st of July, a enjoyable day with tons of awesome fire works celebrating something you may have already forgotten what is. If you have forgotten, here's the European to help y'all remember why you are celebrating the 4th of July.

You beat the nasty Brits in the war for independence - you fought against the overpowered British oppressors to gain your freedom and not pay taxes to some stupid royalty. Basically, the 4th of July symbolizes everything that is American. The freedom of speech, the freedom to do what you want and the dream that you can accomplish anything you set your mind to (read: American Dream). Therefore, one could say that all the fireworks are a way to celebrate the ideological creation of your fine country. I wish you all a happy 4th of July - and if you ever lack someone to thank, thank the French for helping yout kick them British people's asses. Without us, you would've never made it.

I am not going to pretend, that I knew all this by heart (although I did know it by heart), so here's a little bit taken directly from wikipedia. A bit I found to be of outmost importance in regard to the Glorious Fourth.
Celebrations: Fireworks, Family reunions, Concerts, Barbecues, Picnics, Parades, Baseball games

This day sounds awesome! Where I'm from, we're just hanging out, doing whatever - like any normal day, but you guys, you get to see family, concerts (probably pretty patriotic concerts with a ton of country music), have awesome barbecue picnics, parades, baseball games(??) and amazing fireworks. In short, the European in question would like to once have a chance to witness all this in its glorious fashion. Again, happy Fourth of July from myself, the European, and the glorious staff of d3jsp.org. Here's a few pictures just to get y'all in the mood.

If you're still confused about what this day actually means, feel free to watch that one Mel Gibson movie where he kills a whole bunch of British people in a maniacaly fashion.
