You've bundled up against the cold, used copious amounts of hand sanitizer and gotten your flu shot. What about oral hygiene? Many studies have shown an association between poor oral hygiene, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and other health concerns.

When the holiday season is in full swing, the last thing on our minds is oral hygiene. This season, keep your employees healthy (and out of the dentist chair) with these 3 essential gifts ideas for maintaining oral health.

1. Packs of dental floss- A key to preventing periodontal disease and achieving healthy oral hygiene is through proper flossing. Daily flossing is the only way to remove the plaque and illness-causing bacteria trapped under the gums and between the teeth. Check out this easy how-to video and make sure you're doing it right.

2. Fluoride Mouth Wash- Cavities form when the bacteria on the surfaces of teeth eat the sugars from our diet and produce an acidic by-product that breaks down the enamel surface. The use of fluoride can strengthen the enamel surface and prevent the formation of cavities. Keep your employees out of the dentist chair with a daily swishing of an over-the-counter fluoride mouthwash.

3. Electric Toothbrush- An electric toothbrush link to nearly forces users to brush thoroughly and correctly, creating a clean, healthy smile on a daily basis. Toothbrush abrasion and gingival recession, caused by aggressive tooth brushing, is a common phenomenon among patients today. Both toothbrush abrasion and gingival recession can cause sensitive teeth, and lead to more dental work.

Show how much you appreciate your employees by keeping them healthy and smiling bright!

Happy Holidays,
