Yes, atleast I get that. If you don't get pop-ups you probably disabled it in the settings or something. I think you can choose to get an e-mail when you get a pm aswell.

i have pop-up block, so it probably doesn't pop because of this. but, i think: You have (number) new messages should change to red/orange or a more noticeable color. _____________________

I think the screen should darken a little, like a shadow so that when the pop-up appears, it obscures everything else. _____________________
