its just feedback
if u had a bad experience just give them a bad rep. People view reps b4 trading its pretty standard from what i'm seeing.

New people dont check rep b4 trade.. they see big number so they do the deal

However big number can be 20 negative troll/scam rep and no one will know

If we had thumbs down, then people with 20 negative would be -20 instead of +20 . so no one would trade with someone that is -20 .

Mainly a good idea, but who keeps an eye on all the bad reputations?

Sounds like a system which could easily abused
No idea how much work it would be to check and release every rep manually, but there will be for sure a lot of disagreements about how fair or not the bad rep given by another user is.

On the other hand i can get something out of the current system because it only rewards good behaviour and deals with scammers etc. in a complete other way, which is very noble imho.

People already leave negative rep, but as a positive thumbs up... which doesnt make any sense at all.

Instead of leaving negative rep with a thumbs up, it would just make it so we can leave thumbs down.. or actually a new system

We could see something like this

Positive: 19
Neutral: 3
Negative: 5

So that way new people on forum will see the real number and not think someone with 15 thumbs up is legit even if all his rep are negative..

There already a system like that in many forum and it work very good.

The rep will be abused, as it is already the way it is... it would not be more abused...

I can see your point, needs some fine tuning but I think this could really be an improvement.
Maybe a way to change a bad in at least a neutral rep if the other user agrees and some standards how to deal with reps given by tagged accounts.
Rules about abusing, limits pro user/time and so on.

Just a few thoughts for the moment but I'll stay with this topic!

there was a big stink about this a while back.
you can call someone BM in reps.
flaming is not allowed.
calling someone scammer is not allowed. if they scammed, get them tagged.
