I put in the disk, and it asked me to install Steam, so I assume it's redeemed through Steam.

Not sure yet, I paid $50 for it, I'd like to get at least $40 for it, would accept $40 paypal, but would prefer 4k d2jsp fg, which is at a $10/1k ratio.
@Farstar, I've googled around and found on the official steam site that it is redeemable through steam.
