Maple Story (have played it didn't really like it)

Eve Online offers a 14 day free trial. (Most of my friends and I joke that you have to have a PHD to play it. I have played it a month or two and it was entertaining to say the least.)
Magic The Gathering Online - There is no monthly fee but you will have to buy some cards to get started.
If you like turn based Strategy try www.battleon.com (aka Adventure Quest)
Diablo 2 is relatively free. Pay 5 - 8 bux for a cd key off of most sites and you can just download a copy of the CD's.
